Grab a drink and catch up with your fellow Rubyists.

19:45 〜 20:15 Artificial Artificial Intelligence with Mechanical Turk – Andrew Culver

In this presentation we’ll look at some tools and techniques to use small bits of human-powered intelligence via Mechanical Turk to accurately categorize massive sets of data in ways we didn’t originally anticipate we would need to and would be difficult to do with computer-powered analysis alone. (Think photos. Lots and lots of photos.)

Profile

Andrew Culver is a developer and bootstrapper from Los Angeles, CA. He previously founded and sold Churn Buster and helped build and grow Borrowed & Blue as CTO. He’s currently taking a sabbatical, traveling the world, and staying in Japan with his family. He’s @andrewculver on Twitter and Instagram.

20:30 〜 21:00 An Introduction to JSON Web Tokens – Laura Eck

JSON Web Token (JWT) is an open standard that defines a compact and self-contained way for securely transmitting information between parties as a JSON object. JWT is widely used for token based authentication because of its small overhead and its ability to be easily used across different domains. JSON web tokens can be authenticated and encrypted, and can be passed through URLs, POST parameters or HTTP headers.

In this talk we’re going to look at what JSON Web Tokens actually are, how they work, why they are so useful, and when and for what we should be using them.

Profile

Laura is a web developer living in Tokyo. One of her favorite pastimes is learning something new, be it a technology, a language or anything else. When she’s not busy coding, you can usually find her reading things, making things, climbing on or jumping over things, or trying out another martial art.

21:00 〜 22:00 Open Networking

Discuss the presentations or anything else Ruby related with the other attendees.
