Description

Agenda

19:00 〜 19:30 Doors open

Grab a drink and catch up with your fellow Rubyists.

19:30 〜 19:55 Creating a hybrid iOS/Android app using Ruby on Rails Junya Ishihara

With Machiquest, you create and solve quests that require you to gather clues by exploring the real world. Despite having over 20,000 quests across Japan, the app is maintained by only two developers. The presentation introduces how to create a hybrid native app, which we think is the best approach when you have a small team that needs to maintain Web, iOS, and Android versions of your app.

20:00 〜 20:25 Writing Better Errors Laura Eck

At their core, all errors trigger the same question, no matter who encounters them: What’s wrong, and how do I make it work? At the same time, every error has specific target audiences that are interested in answering exactly that question - but possibly in very different ways.

Let’s explore how we can design errors so they give each stakeholder the information they need to fix the issue at hand, and how we can use them to make our software even better. Errors might never be something you look forward to seeing - but when they crash your party, they’ll at least know how to chat with the guests.

Profile

Laura is a web developer living in Tokyo. One of her favorite pastimes is learning something new, be it a technology, a language or anything else. When she’s not busy coding, you can usually find her reading things, making things, climbing on or jumping over things, or trying out another martial art.

20:30 〜 21:30 Open Networking

Discuss the presentations or anything else Ruby related with the other attendees.
