There are many methodologies that are believed to improve software development: TDD, Test first, refactoring, code coverage, code reviews, CI, and so on. It's hard to follow all those methodologies as the project and team gets bigger. I will show you simple and practical tips to make your tests more valuable.
Kazuho is a freelance Ruby on Rails developer who has frequently worked as part of international development teams. His interests include testing and data analytics, and as he's dived deeper into it he's picked up a bit of R and Python. His hobbies include music and horse riding.
Scratch is a visual programming language developed by the MIT Media Lab. Although it is designed especially for ages 8 to 16, it is used by people of all ages. Behind Scratch there is a philosophy, "low floors" and "high ceilings". It provides easy ways for beginners to get started (low floor) but also ways for them to work on increasingly sophisticated projects over time (high ceiling). I will introduce the "high ceilings" part of Scratch and ScratchX (extended version of Scratch) by connecting Ruby and Tensorflow.js to Scratch so that you can create a game or control a robot using Machine Learning.
