This event will be an interactive event, where you'll pair program with another developer to solve a programming challenge. The goals of this event are to have fun programming, learn from other developers, and increase communication between Japanese and international developers.

The programming challenge that should take about an hour to do. The challenge will be solvable using pure ruby - no special frameworks required. The challenge is designed to be accessible to people of all skill levels. So whether you're just getting started with Ruby, or you're already an expert, you should enjoy it.

To give you an idea of what kind of challenges you might solve, here's some we've done in the past:

19:00 〜 19:15 Doors open

Grab a drink and catch up with your fellow Rubyists.

19:15 〜 19:30 Introduction

We'll give a short introduction to pair programming, go over the challenge itself, and assign you a partner.

19:30 〜 20:30 Pair Programming Challenge

Work with your partner to solve the challenge.

20:30 〜 21:00 Present solutions

Have an interesting solution? Share it with the group.

21:00 〜 22:00 Open Networking

Talk with other attendees about Ruby or anything else.

About the Venue

From 19:00, the main entrance of the building is locked. Please use the back entrance (裏手 in Japanese, see this picture of it). The back entrance will be locked from 8pm onwards, so please be sure to show up before then.

Tokyo Rubyist Meetup (trbmeetup)は、日本のRubyistと世界のRubyistとをつなげるための場になることを目指して設立されました。定例会には、東京近郊に住んでいる海外出身のRubyistたちと日本人Rubyistたちが参加します。例会の公用語は英語になりますが、英語が苦手な方も、一緒に英語の練習をするくらいのつもりでお気軽にご参加ください。
