Views are features of relational databases that can be used to build abstractions on top of your existing data. As with any tools and technologies in the application stack, there are pros and cons to views (and materialized views). This presentation will explore how to leverage database views to make you a more effective developer, and demonstrate how to integrate them into your Rails app with the help of the Scenic gem.

Rails introduced me to SQL, relational databases, and all the fun things you can do with data. These days I spend all my time doing dev / devops, using Ruby, Rails, Javascript, Golang, and, of course, Postgres.
